The night before taking the guys to see their Doctor David we always tell them. They cock their heads from side to side and a smile comes across those sad looking faces because for them it's a reason to bark and howl in joy since these guys love their Doctor David and his assistants. There is no fear of a doctor's office in their memories. Only mind pictures of how much of a fuss is made over them and all the belly rubs that will be coming their way as soon as they get inside.
We barely have a chance to get out of the car when Hoover tries to nose his way out of the car before I can turn around to grab his leash. Once out of the car the guys make a beeline towards the door with me in tow. Heaven forbid, if I would trip since I believe they would drag me to the door and wonder why it did not open.
No one is at the reception desk since we are a tad early for the appointment so the guys settle down at their favorite spots. Hoover on the cool linoleum floor so he can be prepared for a belly rub and Dolly claims her high perch so she can see who is coming down the hall.
Soon they are rewarded when one of their favorite two legged people comes their way and bends down on her knees and the bellyrubbing and turkey neck petting commences. We now have two happy guys and they have not even seen their Doctor David yet.
They happily go to the scale for they know once that is out of the way Doctor David will be coming to visit them. Hoover weighs in at 74 and Dolly a few pounds lighter at 72.
